Phrana-korn Kin-len Hotel

Bangkok, March 24th    Following a late-evening dinner of warm Pad Thai and cold Singha beer, we collapsed into bed in the first of many digs we will call home over the next month, Bangkok's quirky and  delightful Phrana-korn Kin-len Hotel. Vibrantly colored murals and textiles mingle with an eclectic collection of artifacts from the '40s & '50s -- an eye-candy mash-up as whimsical as it is sensory overload. A perfect launching pad.

A welcome sight at the end of a long journey.

Hand-painted wall murals and elephant-origami towels in our bedroom.

Vignette's designed from vintage articles appear in the common spaces; this one, a barber shop from bygone days.

From homes to hostels, shops to street corners, shrines are ever present. One of several at the hotel.

Soda bottles from the '50s.
Second floor corridor murals, vintage TV, mid-century furnishings.
Vintage bikes.
An aging rickshaw.
